Canon FD 600mm f/4.5 Lens *AS-IS*

Description:

Condition: BGN
Functionality: Read
Cosmetically this lens is in BGN condition with signs of cosmetic wear. The body of the lens has some scuffs and scratches which are purely cosmetic. The built in lens hood has a pretty good sized ding in the side that is noticeable but is also purely cosmetic. It is apparent that the mount was removed from this lens however and is missing some parts and was also not put back correctly. The first issue is that a tab is missing from the mount and can be seen in the picture designated by a red circle. I don’t know the specific purpose of the tab but I know that on similar lenses it allows for the aperture to engage. The next issue also has to do with the aperture blades and is designated by the blue circle. This portion of the lens has a long metal strip that follows along the edge of the lens barrel and relays the aperture setting if I am not mistaken. Whoever reinstalled this did it incorrectly and instead of the strip following along the side of the barrel it is at an angle and is seated right alongside the rear element enclosure and is right in the optical path. Fortunately it is short enough that it doesn’t actually make contact with the rear element but does affect image quality presently. The portion of the barrel starting from filter and all the way back to the mount rotates in a 360 degree motion which I am pretty sure is not supposed to happen. The last major issue is in regards to the focusing mechanism. First the entire mechanism sits a bit loose and moves side to side and up and down a bit. Next the portion that has the distance scale is also detached and will rotate freely in a 360 degree motion which makes it impossible to tell what distance you are set at. Lastly the switch that increases the tension and locks the focusing mechanism does not work correctly. It works fine for locking the focus but I believe due to the loose mechanism it doesn’t increase the tension at all. The glass is free of any fungus and has a few light marks on the front and rear element as well as a some flecs of internal dust, none of which affect image quality whatsoever. There is also some light haze or possibly dried cleaning solution on the second element that will have little to no affect on image quality. Functionally the lens is in poor working order. The aperture blades are completely inoperative due to the issues listed earlier and will probably require a few replacement pieces to get going again. The lens focuses smoothly and does not display any signs of friction or stiffness when turning the focus ring. Lastly the lens is missing the drop in filter which plays a part in the optical formula if I am not mistaken.

We specialize in all brands of manual focus lenses and accessories. Our lenses are first cleaned and then inspected for marks on the front/rear elements, internal dust, haze, fungus, fog and oil on the aperture blades. Next the lenses are inspected for scuffs/scratches along the barrel, focus ring, aperture ring, and lens hoods where applicable. Finally the lenses are tested for functionality and smoothness of the aperture blades, focusing ring, zoom ring, and for the presence of lens creep.

Cosmetically this lens is in EX condition with some signs of cosmetic wear. The body of the lens has some scuffs and scratches which are purely cosmetic. The glass is free of any haze or fungus and has some light marks on the front element and a few light marks on the rear element as well as a lot of internal dust, some of which may affect image quality. Functionally the lens is in good working order. The aperture blades snap cleanly but display some signs of friction and stiffness when turning the aperture ring. The lens focuses smoothly but also displays some signs of stiffness when turning the focus ring.

About Us:
We specialize in all brands of manual focus lenses and accessories. Our lenses are first cleaned and then inspected for marks on the front/rear elements, internal dust, haze, fungus, fog and oil on the aperture blades. Next the lenses are inspected for scuffs/scratches along the barrel, focus ring, aperture ring, and lens hoods where applicable. Finally the lenses are tested for functionality and smoothness of the aperture blades, focusing ring, zoom ring, and for the presence of lens creep.
